In its capacity as a national security authority, the objective of PET is to contribute efficiently, offensively and open-mindedly towards handling public safety in Denmark by being a co-ordinating authority. In this connection, the Service must achieve various tasks in a timely, professional and appropriate way.
Accuracy must be observed through appropriate planning and preparation of work, and professionalism must be maintained by developing and keeping up-to-date the high professional standards of employees in combination with a flexible, service-minded and attentive approach to the surroundings.
In all contexts, the staff of PET should be determined, committed, creative and independent in their approach to the tasks of the Service. Furthermore, the Service must deploy allocated resources in a responsible, efficient and well-documented way, and exploit the benefits accrued from relevant research, experience, knowledge and the results of co-operation with foreign liaison services etc.
In terms of organisation, PET shall offer a modern, well-working and challenging workplace, providing managers and staff with the opportunities to develop a good individual career, as well professional and management skills. Likewise, the Service shall contribute towards developing the individual employee’s sense of occasion, of correct behaviour, of a high degree of morality and loyalty.
The Service shall continuously maintain and develop the quality of work by, among other things, motivating the employees to the widest extent possible, through delegation of responsibility and authority, combined with ensuring an appropriate and balanced quality.
As part of the Danish police, PET shall play an active role in developing competences, personnel, management and organisation within the police in general.
