PET reports to the Ministry of Justice and as such is naturally closely associated with this ministry. In its capacity as a national security authority, close co-operation with a number of other ministries, authorities and relevant interested parties and liaisons is of vital importance to the Service. This applies with regard to preventive security matters as well as investigations.

Among others, these liaisons are:

  • The Royal Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs
  • The National Agency for Enterprise and Housing
  • National Commissioner
  • The Aliens Division of the National Commissioner
  • Department A of the National Commissioner
  • Police and the Prosecution Service
  • Public Prosecutor for Serious Economic Crime
  • Commissioner of the Copenhagen Police
  • National Centre for Biological Defence
  • The Danish Immigration Service
  • The Danish Emergency Management Agency
  • The Civil Aviation Administration
  • The Danish Defence Intelligence Service (DDIS)
  • Danish Institute of International Studies
  • The business community, trade and industry as well as educational institutions
  • The press and media
  • Special interest groups

In addition, in order to ensure good relations, the Service has set up a number of co-operation fora with various organisations and authorities.

Among others, representatives from a broad circle of relevant authorities are included in a contact group on counter-terrorism to ensure that the Service’s risk assessments are targeted correctly and are relevant, as well as to assist in their circulation. Furthermore, a discussion forum has been established with representatives of special interest groups from the ethnic minorities in Denmark. One of the objectives of this initiative is to strengthen and increase the confidence and co-operation between PET and the ethnic minorities. Among other things, this co-operation has resulted in a leaflet on terrorist financing, translated into seven languages.
