PETs finances

PET’s financial framework is based on the Danish government’s multi-annual agreements concerning the finances of the Danish police and the Danish Prosecution Service. Under the multi-annual agreement concluded in 2012, PET received an independent appropriation for the first time.

The current multi-annual agreement covering the period 2016-2019 was concluded in 2015. The terrorist attack in Copenhagen in February 2015 resulted in broad political consensus that counter-terrorism preparedness and protection should be increased to prepare for a potential, similar attack. In order to meet the consensus demand, the PET appropriation was markedly higher in 2016 than previously.

The website of the Danish Ministry of Finance lists the PET appropriation (in Danish).
