The Legal Department is responsible for ensuring and supervising the legal aspects of PET's activities, including the use of coercive measures related to criminal procedure and the handling of information related to physical and legal entities.
In this connection, the department also supports supervisory activities of the Danish Intelligence Oversight Board. Furthermore, the department prepares internal guidelines for the activities of the service and handles a number of administrative legal matters, including the right of access to files and security clearances.
The department also coordinates and prepares contributions for replies to parliamentary questions, and it co-operates with the remaining PET departments to assist other authorities in connection with the preparatory work on new legislation etc. that affects the activities of PET.
