The Personal Protection Unit

PET continues to experience an increase in the number of tasks relating to the protection of individuals and institutions as a result of the overall serious threat picture and a number of specific threats to public figures.

The Personal Protection Unit undertakes all public personal protection tasks in Denmark and is responsible for the personal security surrounding the royal family, the diplomatic corps, foreign heads of state and govenrment visiting Denmark and others with special need for personal protection.

Thus, the Personal Protection Unit handles both permanent protection tasks and ad hoc tasks.

Gamma 10
The Personal Protection Unit has a special unit – ”Gamma 10” – which is specially trained for missions and has access to specialised equipment. In close co-operation with the special units and personal protection officers of the Danish Armed Forces, Gamma 10 members undertake personal protection assignments in connection with, for example, ministerial visits to conflict areas such as Iraq and Afghanistan.
